As members of Alpha Sigma Tau, we continually re-pledge ourselves to contribute our share to the progress of mankind. And social service is a vital
aspect of our lives and our sisterhood. It is our way of expressing concern for others.

Alpha Sigma Tau chapters have traditionally supported the education and training of emotionally disturbed children. Since 1945, Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority has supported the Pine Mountain Settlement School as our national philanthropy.

Pine Mountain Settlement School

This school is located on the north side of a mountain in Harlan County, Kentucky. This school and the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority share a common goal:
to help people make a difference in peoples lives. Thousands of additional
local social service projects are conducted by collegiate and alumnae chapters throughout the country.

"Pine Mountain Settlement School sets before its students and guests ideas
and experiences which are increasingly inaccessible in other places. It offers opportunities to learn about both the natural world and the resources and
value of rural places. This is instrumental in helping participants make life choices."

In addition to the Pine Mountain Settlement School, the national chapter of
Alpha Sigma Tau has adopted Habitat for Humanity as another organization to which it lends its support.

Alpha Sigma Tau is proud to join Habitat in the effort to provide low-cost, permanent housing to those who wouldn't otherwise be in position for homeownership. Through donations of time and money, the women of Alpha Sigma Tau share Habitat's Vision Statement which foresees "a world where everyone has a decent place to live".

Local Philanthropic Involvement:
Locally, the Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau has interests and regularly engages in activities with many organizations. By choosing a monthly project, these women dedicate themselves to the service of others may enjoy the blessing of life.
